A credible seismic evaluation of any cooling tower fill material is a marriage between analytical and experimental techniques. This paper discusses the seismic evaluation of the spaced tile fill in the condenser water-cooling towers for the Intermountain Power Project (IPP) located in Delta, Utah. Using the results of the IPP investigation guidelines were generated for the seismic evaluation of spaced tile fill in cooling tower located in both the eastern and western United States.
