West Texas Utilities Company has three gas turbine generators, a 25MW gas turbine generator in a combined cycle with a 100MW steam turbine-generator at San Angelo, Texas, a 5MW gas turbine generator in a combined cycle with a 39MW steam turbine-generator at the Rio Pecos Station located on the Pecos River, which is 125 miles west of San Angelo, and a 5MW simple cycle gas turbine-generator at Ft. Stockton, which is 35 miles west of Rio Pecos. All three units are served by cooling towers to cool and clean the inlet air to the gas turbine compressors in order to maintain maximum efficiency and capabilities of the units.
