77-18: Cooling Tower Salinity Optimization via Sidestream Desalination

At the 97th Winter Annual Meeting of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers in New York City, Dow Chemical presented a paper on alternative designs for zero dis­charge power plants. The results of that paper showed that side streams softening followed by Electrodialysis (ED) had the lowest capital investment of several different processes for achieving zero discharge conditions.
