77-11: Field Examination of Cooling Tower Testing Methodology

Over the past ten years, there has been considerable by the major cooling tower test code committees, specifically the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Power Test Code 23 committee and the Cooling Tower Institute's Performance and Technology Committee, over the number and location of wet-bulb sensors to used in performance and acceptance testing of cooling towers. In spite of some extensive work on cooling tower recirculation 1,2,3 and its impact on performance, the present codes have been remiss in the exact specification of inlet air sensor deployment.
