Chlorine Dioxide -- If the name "rings a bell", you may have been associated with the pulp and paper or textile industries where many tons of ClO2 are generated and consumed on-site each day. Or you may have been involved in one of the several hundred, world-wide potable water plants that have used ClO2 since the 1940's for taste and odor control or, more recently, as the primary disinfectant.
