The release of energy in the form of heat to the environment is becoming of tremendous concern in this country. It has been reported that on Manhattan Island, energy release is approaching solar radiation levels. This solar radiation varies from 480
BTU/Sqft./day in January to 1690 BTU/Sq.Ft. /day in July. Annual
Manhattan energy release for electric power is 26% of solar. Radiation (the World Trade Center consumes as much energy as the entire city of Schenectady), and is 75% of solar radiation if power plant thermal discharge is included.
