69-01: Protection of Iron and Steel Through Hot Dip Galvanizing

As a small led on the farm, I became aware that if the mowing machine and grain binder were left in the field during the winter, that they were so badly rusted by the next season that baling wire was used to repair weak connections and some parts would have to be replaced. Usually, this equipment would be stored under the sheds, common on the farms of the day. Strangely enough if the paint coating had begun to deteriorate, the rusting here was almost as bad as if they were left out in the field.
