68-13: Cooling Water Treatment Specifications

The M. w. Kellogg Company is primarily an engineering and construction company, engaged in building industrial plants in the chemical process industry. This paper will deal with the preparation of specifications for cooling water treatment in grass-roots plants of this type. The discussion will be limited to an open recirculation cooling water system, employing an induced-draft cooling tower. The cooling towers in plants of this type are generally of crossflow de­sign, with 20,000 to 100,000 GPM recirculation range. Maximum tempera­ture in the system is limited to 120° F-. Tower make-up flows range from 600 to 3600 GPM.
