11-08: Efficacy of Non-chemical Devices In Controlling Legionella: Results From
The objective of this investigation was to assess the ability of several classes of non-chemical water treatment devices (NCD’s) to control the growth of Legionella in a model cooling system. In addition, water samples from cooling towers treated with NCD’s were also tested. NCD devices did not prevent Legionella growth in the model cooling towers or in field tests. Building owners and engineers should test water samples for Legionella from cooling systems, especially if they are only treated with non-chemical devices.
