TP09-06: A Continuous Monitoring System for Predictive Maintenance and Global Service Online

This paper describes a new patented system for the continuous monitoring of process parameters and mechanical equipment conditions. This system was designed specifically for cooling towers and air cooled heat exchangers, to ensure the global performance of the cooling systems and to support predictive maintenance. It is based on a network of localized smart sensors, which collects the data and converts it into a digital form, sending it to a supervisory system, using wireless technology. The supervisory system validates and integrates the data in a single database; processes the acquired information to check process parameters variability and equipment reliability; detects potential problems; generates alarms and determines counteractions, preventing them from becoming actual.
